Photograph two professional NYC models in three kinds of light in one evening: golden hour, blue hour and the city at night. Tony Northrup and NYC street portrait master Kash The SOHO Shooter coach you at every setup. With two models for up to 10 photographers, everyone gets plenty of time with each one.

  1. 5:00 pm

    Meet and set up

    Meet in the Meatpacking District and set up your camera for photographing people on the street.

  2. 5:15 pm

    Posing and expression

    Work with the models in natural light, and learn to direct poses and expressions so people look relaxed instead of stiff.

  3. 5:30 pm

    Golden hour

    Low, warm sun until sunset at 6:12, the best natural light of the day.

  4. 6:12 pm

    Blue hour, then flash

    As the sky turns deep blue, add flash and balance it with the last of the daylight.

  5. 6:40 pm

    Night and city lights

    Light the models with flash while the city turns into bokeh behind them.

  6. Before 8 pm

    Your portrait

    Tony takes a portrait of you, if you want one, and answers your questions.

Miss Massachusetts Teen USA 2021 and now a New York runway regular. Shannon has modeled at the last three New York Fashion Weeks, most recently for Habebe Couture, walked Miami Swim Week and shot editorial and lifestyle work for Sony. She was also a model on set for The Devil Wears Prada 2. Represented by APM in New York, PWR in Milan and Maggie Inc. in Boston.

Is it right for my skill level?

Yes. All skill levels are welcome. With two instructors for up to 10 photographers, you get help with your own camera at every setup.

How much time will I get with the models?

Lots. There are two professional NYC models and two instructors for up to 10 photographers, so everyone gets plenty of time with each model.

What should I bring?

A camera and your favorite portrait lens, a charged battery, an empty memory card and a warm layer. It cools off quickly after sunset.

Where exactly do we meet?

In the Meatpacking District in Manhattan. Tony emails the exact meeting spot and a map the day before.

What if it rains?

If we have to call it off for weather, you can switch to a later date or get a full refund.

Can I bring a friend?

Yes, if there’s room. Each photographer needs a spot, so book 2 spots and check out once.

Will Tony really take my portrait?

Yes, if you want one. It’s part of the evening.
